Best in Show James Carbone The Nutcracker-Monomoy High 2018 $250
The reason I picked this particular picture is because it’s great to see something in black-and-white but also the composition was perfect. The balance between the darks in the whites has the classic thirds of composition so its just perfect.
First Place Nancy Jorgensen- Mmmm Good! $185
They got a perfect shot with a personality and though I don’t know the gentleman‘s name, there’s a lot to be learned just by looking at how he is dressed. The composition itself, which is a vertical, again a perfect format for that particular type of image.
Second Place John Mason Jr.-X Marks the Spot $175
A great osprey picture is something I always hope to get. It’s a bird that I’ve been photographing for 40 years but this is the first one that I’ve seen from almost eye level and again the composition is nice because of where the feathers are. He got a great picture!
Third Place Meg Clarke- Gateway $250
The reason I chose this one was the depth of field. It is definitely not Truro with all that sand! I like how the foreground of the arch has a sharp focus. Also, the way it’s been composed, it brings you in from upper left to the bottom right of the picture.
