Best in Show Peggy Runcie- The Little House, Oil $950
My first impression beyond the charm of the subject matter, is how well this piece is designed. It’s a joy to wander through this painting. Initially I am drawn through the gate to enjoy the cast shadows on the door, stopping to smell the roses, then I’m pulled into the distance and to the lake. Confident painting handling and drawing.
1st Place Large Rosalie Nadeau- Serene, Oil $2,400
Wonderfully executed figure painting. Beautiful brushwork and drawing. The elegant language pose conveys a sense of calmness.
2nd Place Large Jane Eccles – Hopscotch, Oil $1,800
This work manages to be both subtle and dynamic. The restraint of the pallet in the background is punctuated by bold colors. It reads like a musical score harmony balance and a variety of shape and line creating rhythmic notes of color. The orange square and upper right is a nod to Piebenkorn.
1st Place Small Lyn Coffey- Chatham Harbor, Oil $220
This little gem packs a lot into a 6 x 6 square. The Moody neutralized pallet is the backdrop for the hint of chroma along the horizon luscious brushstrokes and nice surface variety. The harmony of orange and blue is so pleasing.
2nd Place Small Susan Hollis – Sweet Summer Wind, Pastel $825
This painting is a breath of fresh air on a summer day the rhythmic marks sweep across the path up over the dunes and out to the sea beyond. Lovely warm and cool notes of broken color throughout. The high key conveys a sense of shimmering lights.
