The Workshop will begin each day with an on-the-spot oil painting demonstration by Bill Maloney. He will stress composition, values and color using a traditional Grisaille Technique. He will also introduce the use of complementary colors as an under-painting to produce a glowing vibration of light in the finished painting.
At the conclusion of a two-hour demonstration, students will create their own paintings with personal instruction. Mr. Maloney will critique each student’s painting at the end of each day.
The purpose of the Workshop is to teach the student to experience and see nature and to paint it using good composition, values and color. It is also very important that students enjoy themselves in a stress-free environment.

Skills include creating moire patterns, managing highlights on broken
surfaces, lifting and reserving white threads, creating halos, creating
subtle color shifts and layering color for best results. Fluffy dandelions,
furry pups, lamb's ears or velvety seal skin - the techniques work for any
